Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 10th Flr Oceanfront Oasis: One Bedroom King Suite has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
