- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. message the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
