Tricks and tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Waterside Paradise Suite with Views 6th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, contact the host before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
