Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 11th-floor ocean-view studio with WiFi, AC, pool & hot tub - snowbird- friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
