Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the largest rental within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities.
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 15th floor 3 bedroom\/2 bath condo with million dollar views! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
