Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:

  • First, have your family agree to dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 16th-floor oceanfront condo with AC, pool, & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
