Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:

  • To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the best vacation rental:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Marriott Ocean Watch Villas offer a little slice of paradise in Myrtle Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
