Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 19th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, WiFi, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
