Our top Vacation rental home tips:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. A Little Piece of Heaven UNIT #1405 free wifi, close to Airport and Walmart has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
