Strategies for getting the best rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First, have your family select dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 1BR Condo On The Golden Mile of Myrtle! OFP 1503 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
