How to book the best rental home experience:
Getting the best value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book the rightrental home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. 1st-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
