Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- First, have your group choose dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 1st Floor Unit on Lake in Laurel Court. Private Pool. Short walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
