Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes 2BR\/2BA Beach House with Complementary Golf Cart has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, email the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
