Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Selecting the best rental:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes 2BR\/2BA Beach House with Complementary Golf Cart has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
