How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking yourvacation home:
- Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 2 Bedroom 2 Bath Pool \/ Courtyard View Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
