Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 2 Bedroom 2 Bath Pool \/ Courtyard View Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
