Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 2 Bedroom with optional 3rd Bedroom has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If not, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
