A Breezy Atlantic Coast Escape

It’s no surprise that families savor visiting Myrtle Beach. Sun, white sand and boardwalk games are hard not to appreciate. Deciding where to stay? That can be a bit trickier. Staying right on the beach gives you marvelous vistas but oftentimes a smaller (and sometimes noisier) room. Staying further inland requires some driving back and forth but gives you more room to spread out as a family.

Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 2 Minutes' Walk to Ocean from this 1BD condo within resort with lots of amenities has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
