Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 2B\/2B Condo in Riverwalk, Beautiful View of the Intracoastal Waterway! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
