Rental home tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 2BR Holiday Towers, Newly Remodeled, Balcony, Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
