Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Find your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Lovely 1br with Ocean View has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
