Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the best rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 2nd Floor Oceanfront Snowbird Friendly Condo w\/ WiFi, AC, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, email the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
