Vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your family select a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 3 BR Condo-Golf Course has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
