Getting the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 3 BR Condo-Golf Course has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
