Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- To find the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 3 Rd Floor End Unit Ocean View 1BR\/1BA has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If not, contact the host before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
