Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 360 VIEW OF OCEAN! RELAXATION! BREATH TAKING! NOT BETTER THAN THIS has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
