Getting the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- To get the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective.
