Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To book the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. New! A True Penthouse-15th Floor-Panoramic View-Gorgeous Furnishings & Upgrades! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, email the host before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
