Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- First, have your group decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 3rd floor Oceanfront studio with AC, WiFi, shared pool & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
