Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 9th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
