Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:

  • Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:

  • To start, have your family select the best dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 4th-floor oceanfront condo with pool, hot tub, & W\/D - snowbird-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
