Our top Rental home booking tips:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:
- To start, have your group agree to dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 4th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
