Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the best rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
