How to book the best vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 5th-floor oceanfront condo with W\/D, pool, & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
