Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- To book the largest rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best rental home:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 5th-floor studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
