Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the perfect rental:

  • To start, have your group decide on trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 8th Floor Oceanfront Corner Balcony 2BR Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If not, call the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
