Rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose your prefect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 8th-floor oceanfront snowbird-friendly condo with hot tubs, pools & lazy river has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
