Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Calming & Relaxing condo in the center of MB has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
