How to book the best vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 8th-floor studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
