Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose the perfect vacation home:
- First, have your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beautiful Ocean View Double Suite + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
