Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Booking in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by having your group decide on dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanside Condo Easter Week-End Available! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
