Booking the best rental home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by having your family choose date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront, two story w\/ two oceanfront balconies! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
