Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront, two story w\/ two oceanfront balconies! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
