Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your group select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 9th-floor ocean-view with pool, hot tub, WiFi & AC - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
