Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select your vacation dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. King Honeymoon, Beautiful Views, Bluewater, Pools! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
