Strategies to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. 9th Floor Oceanfront Snowbird Friendly Studio w\/ Pool\/Hot Tub, AC, WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
