Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 9th Floor Oceanfront Snowbird Friendly Studio w\/ Pool\/Hot Tub, AC, WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you crave, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
