Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 9th Floor Studio, Breathtaking Ocean Front, Pools! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
