Tricks and tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by having your family agree to dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ocean Dunes Villas #16, stay close to the beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
