Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beach Bum Paradise 14th Flr Oceanfront King Suite has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Have a great stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
