How to get the best vacation home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Mariner's Cove 301A - Oceanview has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
