Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Beautiful 2 bed\/2 bath has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
