Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Beautiful 3 BR Ocean View House! Steps to the Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
