Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautiful Ocean View 1 Bedroom Condo with Electric Fireplace-Meridian 805 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
