Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beautiful Studio Condo in Ocean Creek Resort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
