Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

Find your best deal:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautiful Clean Updated Modern Direct Oceanfront Unit With Amazing Views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
